Four Ways to Save an Emergency Fund

Have you ever noticed that unexpected expenses come to us when we least expect it? Usually it happens at the worst time, when we have no money set aside and a sinking feeling sets in when we have no idea where the funds will come from.

It doesn’t have to be like that, did you know that the unexpected expense usually totals less than $300 dollars. Now three hundred dollars can seriously dent the budget when we are not planning on it and as the old sayings goes terrible things comes in 3’s. That’s why 1000 dollars is a key goal to focus on saving for your emergency fund.

Some easy and fun ways to save for your emergency fund is as follows:

1. Sell some items you have in storage or your garage on craigslist or a garage sale.

2. Call your cable company and ask them to lower your rate. Put the saving into your emergency account.

3. Coupon clipping- there are some great websites that can really put a dent in your personal care and grocery bill.

4. Take on an extra job. Blend your skills, abilities, personal traits, dreams and passions.
